Pierce Farm
The story behind Pierce Farm
The story behind this site began for Busa Homes, a niche local builder, in June of 2018. Our family was rooted in historic East Lexington as part of the farming community starting in 1906. Beyond farming, my uncles and dad began developing new homes in the 1950s. Although I had a passion for farming and nature, as I got to know Lexington growing up, my imagination often took me to dream of the neighborhoods as they once were.
In June of 2018, when I passed by the site of 1106 Mass Ave, I had flashbacks of a once pristine home, with a sloped front lawn, where tons of kids and families sat along the parade route, as I marched by so many times during my grade school years to commemorate the battle at Lexington and Concord.
I often wondered what it would have been like to live in Lexington in 1776; and, after seeing the overgrowth at this unkept historic home, it inspired me to envision how I could contribute to the preservation and reality of what it may have been, as well as, what it could offer to three new families longing to make their own history at this amazing historic location.
In the times of Paul Revere, we believe the Pierce (Dairy) Farm may have had a small general store where the garage sits at 1098 Mass Ave. Neighbors and townspeople could stop by for their dairy needs, and along the right side of the general store, sitting upon the higher knoll, was a barn that made home for the cows. The cows would be brought down the cow path (currently preserved) by the left side of the barn at 1102 Mass Ave and be milked somewhere near the barn's garage doors alongside the original fieldstone wall, which in part has also been historically preserved for the new families to enjoy.
As the Pierce Farm family business grew, the front left home at 1098 Mass Ave was built by hand with family members and eventually connected to the general store by way of a side porch.
Sometime later in 1760, I imagine the 1106 Mass Ave home was built for the eldest sibling, and still exists on its original fieldstone foundation and most recently completely renovated with all of today's modern elegance, while preserving some of the many detailed treasures, we believe characterize the home and the families that have lived there.
For example, the front door and sidelights, the main staircase, the front room’s interior window shutters, the fieldstone foundation, and the palladium window are just a few of these preserved features.
We also chose to identically replicate the millwork. The fireplace surround & mantel, crowns, baseboards, and columns, etc were all thoughtfully handcrafted and placed perfectly for our new family to enjoy the 1106 home as it once was.
The most amazing feature of this unique site is the natural light that streams into each home from every angle, awaking your senses to their fullest. Note, the historic exterior design features and the harmony it creates with the interior flow, professional kitchens, millwork, textures, paint colors, hard surfaces, elegant light fixtures, and hardwood floors. Each home is uniquely fitted with 4 -5+ bedrooms, all with en-suite baths and plenty of extra space where you need it most.
While the convenient location is steps from all the town’s amenities, each home has quiet private outdoor spaces that will become the heart and appreciation of your personal paradise.
Pierce farm has an incredible location at 1106 Massachusetts Avenue. The unique and luxurious homes have their own private driveway creating the convenience of living off the main road and in a neighborhood.
Located in the town's historic district, the location is also very close to the town center, Lexington's famous bike path, several parks, museums, and is in the middle of an incredible public school district in Massachusetts.
